Why Resident Evil 4 Remake Was Good and Why You Should Buy It

Resident Evil 4 is one of the most iconic and influential games in the survival horror genre. It was originally released in 2005 for the GameCube and PlayStation 2, and later ported to other platforms. The game follows Leon S. Kennedy, a former Raccoon City police officer who is now a special agent for the US government, as he travels to a remote village in Spain to rescue the president's daughter, Ashley Graham, from a cult that has infected the villagers with a mind-controlling parasite.

The game was praised for its innovative gameplay, immersive atmosphere, memorable characters, and thrilling action. It also introduced many features that would become staples of the series, such as the over-the-shoulder camera, the quick-time events, the inventory system, and the merchant. The game sold over 10 million copies worldwide and won multiple awards.

However, after 18 years, the game started to show its age. The graphics were outdated, the controls were clunky, the voice acting was cheesy, and some of the design choices were questionable. That's why Capcom decided to remake the game for modern audiences, using the RE Engine that powered Resident Evil 2 and 3 remakes.

Resident Evil 4 Remake was released in 2023 for PC, PS5, PS4, and Xbox Series X|S. It is not a faithful recreation of the original game, but rather a reimagining that preserves its essence while introducing modernized gameplay, a reimagined storyline, and vividly detailed graphics.

The remake improvements are insane

- The gameplay is more fluid and responsive, with improved aiming, movement, and melee combat. The game also adds new weapons, items, and upgrades to enhance the combat experience.
- The graphics are stunning, with realistic lighting, shadows, textures, and animations. The game also supports ray tracing and HDR for enhanced visual effects. The environments are more detailed and immersive, with dynamic weather and destructible objects. The character models are more lifelike and expressive, with motion capture and facial capture technology.
- The story is more coherent and consistent, with revised dialogue, cutscenes, and voice acting. The game also adds new characters, events, and twists to enrich the narrative. The game also explores more of the lore and backstory of the series, such as the origins of the parasite and the cult.
- The game also offers more content and replay value than the original game. The game includes an extra game mode called "The Mercenaries", which is a fast-paced arcade-style mode where you have to survive waves of enemies and earn points. The game also has multiple difficulty modes, unlockables, achievements/trophies, and online features.

Resident Evil 4 Remake is a must-buy for fans of the series and newcomers alike. It is a masterful reimagining of a classic game that delivers an exhilarating survival horror experience that will keep you on the edge of your seat. If you haven't played it yet, you should definitely give it a try.
